Setting: Randomize return reason order

Shuffle return reasons to reduce bias toward whichever option appears first.

Where to find it

Settings > Returns > Policies, under Return Policies.

What this is

Options near the top of a list get selected more often regardless of accuracy, so whichever reason you list first tends to be over-reported. Randomizing the display order spreads that effect evenly, making differences between reasons reflect real differences rather than list position.

Turn it on if you use return reason data to make decisions — merchandising, supplier conversations, product page changes, sizing guidance. Leave it off if you've deliberately ordered your reasons.

Caveats

This setting is designed to provide you with more accurate return reasons, so turning it on may make the data appear differently before and after. If you're analyzing returns data, remember that breakdowns before and after the change aren't directly comparable — treat the change date as a break in the series rather than a trend.
