When enabled, returns created in Onward's app are also created in Shopify.
Where to find it
Settings > Returns > Setup, under Returns General Settings.

What this is
Every return a customer submits through your Onward portal gets a matching return record in your Shopify admin. Onward remains the place you manage and process the return — the Shopify record exists so that anything reading Shopify data sees the return too.
When to enable it
Your team also works out of Shopify's built-in return management
You want returns visible in the Shopify order timeline
You use third-party tools — analytics, ERP, a 3PL integration — that read Shopify return data
Your finance team reconciles against Shopify rather than Onward
If Onward is the only place returns are handled, you can leave this off to keep a single source of truth.
