How It Works
When a customer checks out with a subscription and adds Onward protection, the protection is attached to the same selling plan as their subscription. Each renewal then includes protection automatically.
This only works for selling plans that include the Onward product. If a plan doesn't include it, the first order is still protected, but renewals aren't.
Setup Instructions
Step 1: Add Onward to your selling plans
Log in to your Shopify admin and open the Seal Subscriptions app
Open each subscription rule your customers can choose
Add the Onward (or Checkout+) product to the rule and save
In your Onward admin, enable the "Native Shopify subscriptions enabled" setting
Click the selling plans link next to that setting to confirm Onward shows as added to each plan
Alternative: you can also add the plans from your Shopify admin. Open the Onward product, scroll to Subscriptions, add each selling plan, and save.
Step 2: Connect your Seal API key
More details on the Seal API can be found in Seal's Merchant API documentation.
In the Seal Subscriptions app, go to Settings > General Settings > API
Make sure the API is enabled, then copy your API token
In your Onward admin, go to Account > Integrations
Find the Seal card and click Install
Paste the API key
Click Install
Once connected, no further action is needed.
Troubleshooting
I created a new subscription rule. Add Onward to it so its renewals are protected.
