Connecting Onward to Claude (Desktop, web, and Cowork)

Add Onward as a custom connector in Claude so you can ask about orders, claims, returns, and settings.

⚠️ These steps are for organization admins. Adding a custom connector requires admin access in Claude; other members can use the Onward connector once an admin has added it.

Connect Onward in Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings > Connectors.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Name the connector “Onward” and paste https://app.useonward.com/mcp as the URL.

  4. Click Continue. Leave the advanced options on the next screen set to their defaults because Onward registers the connector automatically.

  5. Click Add, then Connect.

  6. Your browser navigates to Onward. Sign in if prompted, review the requested access, and click Authorize.

  7. In a new Claude chat, try “List the shops I have access to in Onward.”

Use Onward in Cowork

Connectors added in Claude settings are available in Cowork sessions the same way. Enable Onward from the session's tools menu before you start.

Caveats

  • If you deny access, Claude shows a connection error. Retry the connection when you are ready to authorize.

  • Write actions run as you. Claude asks for confirmation before tool calls by default, so keep confirmation enabled.
